FAQ
What is MyfilamentList?
MyfilamentList is a website for 3D printing enthusiasts to easily discover and find the right filaments, as well as manage their personal filament inventory.
You can search for filaments using filters like material type, manufacturer, color, effects, Shore Hardness, region, and more. Each filament has a detailed page with useful information, trusted community reviews, and links to purchase directly from the official manufacturer or resellers from your region.
Who is behind MyfilamentList?
MyfilamentList is a project created by a team of three people. Originally, we planned to launch the website and build the filament database entirely on our own.
However, thanks to Prusa, who acquired the filament database project (OpenPrintTag Database) and made it open source, the database is now community-driven — allowing anyone to contribute by adding new filaments, improvements, and helping the website grow together with the community.
What types of filaments can I find on MyfilamentList?
You can find a wide range of filaments, including (but not limited to):
- PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, Nylon (PA), and more
- Filaments from manufacturers all around the world
- Special effects like silk, matte, glow-in-the-dark, carbon fiber, and multi-color
- A wide variety of colors and finishes
Can I buy filaments directly from MyfilamentList?
MyfilamentList does not sell filaments directly. Each filament page includes links to trusted retailers where you can purchase the filament.
We’ll be adding affiliate links (clearly labeled for transparency), which help support the website at no extra cost to you.
Do I need an account to use MyfilamentList?
No account is required to search and browse filaments. However, creating an account allows you to:
- Track your personal filament inventory
- Create your own filament lists
- Leave reviews on filaments
- Participate in the forum by asking and answering questions
- Save and manage your data across devices
What is the filament inventory feature?
The inventory feature lets you keep track of the filaments you own. You can manage your collection, see what materials and colors you already have, and avoid buying duplicates.
Can I create my own lists of filaments?
Yes! MyfilamentList lets you create custom filament lists to organize your favorite filaments. You can add filaments you’re currently using for a project, ones you want to try, or ones you plan to buy, etc.
Each list can be set as private for personal use or public to share with the community.
Can I leave reviews for filaments?
Yes! Registered users can leave reviews on filament pages. Reviews help the community understand print quality, ease of use, and overall experience with a filament.
Is there a community or forum?
Yes. MyfilamentList includes a forum where users can:
- Ask questions about filaments and manufacturers
- Share printing experiences and tips
- Give feedback on filaments and the platform
Is MyfilamentList free to use?
Yes, MyfilamentList is free to use. We include optional affiliate links (clearly labeled for transparency) to support development and hosting.
In the future, we may add our own filament inventory for purchase directly through the site. You can also choose to support us voluntarily via Ko-fi, but this is entirely optional.
How often is the filament database updated?
We regularly add new filaments and manufacturers. If you notice missing or incorrect information, community feedback is always welcome.
